He is one the true pioneers of the instrument and a legend. I am looking forward to working with the great staff of Loud & Proud Records, some of whom I worked very closely with during their time at Roadrunner and my time with Dream Theater. href="http://screamermagazine.com/tag/trouble/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Trouble">TROUBLE camp through the band’s acquisition of a new lead vocalist, Kyle Thomas of Exorder and Floodgate fame.

Commenting on new vocalist Thomas, TROUBLE founder and guitarist Rick Wartell says, “Kyle is one of the most impressive singers I’ve ever heard, and by far the most extraodinary singer I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. He’s got incredible range, incredible power, and an incredible knowledge of TROUBLE, as he’s been a fan for 20-something years. We’ve known him forever, and he innately understands what TROUBLE is about. He’s like the perfect guy to come in and do this job. It’s awesome.”

Veteran Music Producer Bill Metoyer is once again lending his expertise, having previously worked with the band on ‘The Skull’ and ‘Trouble’, both Metal Blade releases.

“Musically, I think this album is a true TROUBLE record.”, states Wartell. “In the early days, we used to just write what we felt and didn’t really care about what anyone said. We just wrote heavy riffs and played our music our way. But outside influences can kind of get a hold of you and start telling you what to do. When we were writing this album, the thinking was, we don’t care what anybody thinks. We’re going to write what we write. So this is basically a return to our roots, while combining some reflections of our band’s long history as well. With the two different music writers, Bruce and myself, we have a slight variation in our writing; Bruce has more of a ’70s groove to his writing, and I’m more the old school doomy metal thing. And when you put it together, you get TROUBLE.”

The band consists of Kyle Thomas – vocals, Rick Wartell – guitar, Bruce Franklin – guitars, and Mark “Marko” Lira – drums.

More details including song titles and album artwork are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The band has planned a string of festival dates and will tour the album in both Europe and North America.

Visit the band’s website Mark Knight and the Unsung Heroes to release Road Sick Eyes, the band’s new full-length record on May 18th. Knight, a native of North Hollywood, entered the national music scene in 1987, when Bang Tango was signed to Mechanic Records, a label formed by MCA to specialize in the hard rock, glam metal and heavy metal music popular during that time. The band’s debut album, Psycho Café, was released in 1989 and yielded the single “Someone Like You,” which received heavy airplay on MTV.

After leaving Bang Tango in 1995, Knight immediately set to work on following his dream of becoming the outstanding singer and songwriter his is today — one who keenly stays away from the flavor-of-the-moment stuff that seems so prevalent today.

“As I grew older I had no interest in chasing any kind of trend,” Knight explains. “While I was in Bang Tango I was just writing music for the band. It was a different time then and we were well caught up in that scene. By the time the band split up I was more interested in writing for myself and what I like and what I wanted my songs to sound like.”

Knight, who has worked extremely hard in honing the style he is now comfortable with, has every reason to be proud of the adult themes that make up the radio-friendly songs such as “Pack It Up,” “Lies,” and “Sink Your Teeth Into” that make up Road Sick Eyes. The entire recording, including the title track, represents Knight’s best work yet.

Whether the songs on Road Sick Eyes were formed on the acoustic or electric guitar, Knight knew he could get help where needed from the outstanding music veterans who make up The Unsung Heroes — guitarist/backing vocalist Mark Tremalgia and drummer Tigg Ketler (both also formerly of Bang Tango), and bassist Reeve Downes (Rhino Bucket). “We all find a groove and everyone adds their bits,” Knight says.

“My writing has evolved in so many way as I have gotten older,” Knight says. “I had to write countless songs before I got my style together. Learning vocal melody and a since of lyrical content that isn’t cheesy takes time.”

In order to capture “the band sound,” Road Sick Eyes was recorded live over the course of a year with few overdubs added by producer Tom Lavin. Knight believes the album is made even stronger by the fact that many of the musicians who appear on the recording were having their own trials and tribulations during the process. Guest musicians include George Dolivo (Rhino Bucket Frontman) and Matt Abts(Gov’t Mule Drummer)

“It was just crazy, nonstop,” Knight says. “Something was always going on, but we just powered through. I couldn’t be more proud.”

TRACK LISTING:

Pack It Up

Lies

Monkey Boy

7 A.M.

Low Down In Vegas

Sink Your Teeth Into

Slow You Pace

Wrong Direction

God and Dollar Bills

Far From Sober

Produced by Tom Lavin

FEAR INSIDE OUR BONES is collecting early praise from the media. Alternative Press hailed, “On The Almost’s first album in nearly four years, Aaron Gillespie and his bandmates fire up the Wayback Machine to the ‘70s, employing fuzzed-out rock ‘n’ roll that’s big on bluesy licks and light on studio magic. There’s a visceral energy to ‘I’m Down’ and ‘Never Be Like You,’ the result of The Almost tracking these songs live and in rapid-fire fashion, and the title track might be the darkest song Gillespie has penned in quite some time” (May). Elsewhere, Revolver magazine declared, “Candid lyrics like this paired with the band’s decision to record completely live make for its most raw and organic album yet. Fear Inside Our Bones delivers thundering rhythms and crunchy guitars fans will love, at times even tapping into the pop-rock effervescence of the Foo Fighters” (April).
