Steel Panther is undoubtedly the funnest and funniest band in rock n’ roll and I mean that in a good way. Their live performances are a riotous mixture of music, schtick and burlesque and would be equally at home on the stage at the Comedy Store, The Seventh Veil or the L.A. Forum, where they recently opened for Guns N’ Roses. These guys do not take themselves seriously and as soon as their peers and critics get the memo, they may finally get the respect they deserve. Musically, they are all top notch musicians with strong vocals and impressive harmonies, but it’s their raunchy lyrics and over-the-top debauchery that leaves many a nose pointing skyward.
But for every music critic and jaded musician out there, there are thousands of Steel Panther fans ready to pounce on their naysayers. All you have to do is look at their track record and their live show attendance to understand. They recently did aUKrun with Motley Crue and Def Leppard, will be doing the Soundwave tour in Australia starting at the end of February and then off to do a headlining tour in Europe. Pretty good for a “joke” band wouldn’t you say? Undaunted by their detractors, these guys are loving every minute of their success and every girl that comes with it! I recently received a babysitting gig to watch Lexxi Foxx and Stix Zadinia in their dressing room at the House of Blues before a show…well that didn’t go so well. You can see for yourself. I must warn you however, this video contains graphic language that anyone BUT a Steel Panther fan may find offensive.
