Irish post-rock band God is an Astronaut has released their long awaited, 7th studio album, Origins, today via Rocket Girl Records and distributed by Darla Records in the U.S. The album is available now at iTunes, from Rocket Girl (http://bit.ly/1eLAhoQ) and from Darla (http://bit.ly/14eTSqy).
Over the last decade, GIAA has become known as one of the world’s most intense, musically-and visually-inventive post rock bands around, and their 7th album Origins further cements their place alongside post-rock’s elite bands like Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros.
Comprised of a dozen tracks, Origins is the soundtrack to one of the most beautiful movies that has never been made. The music soars over peaks and valleys of sonic bliss, invoking a range of emotions throughout the course of the record. From the darkening skies of the epic post-apocalyptic score “Reverse World” and the piano-led reverie of “Autumn Song” to the groove-laden dreams of “Spiral Code” and the rhapsodic, unapologetically melodic fever of “Signal Rays” Origins flows seamlessly one track to the next creating a unique and emotional experience for listeners.
GIAA will tour Europe this fall and are expected to return to the U.S. for a headlining run in 2014.
