Nikki Sixx is the founder/bassist/songwriter of the band Mötley Crüe, with album sales exceeding 80 million, seven platinum or multi-platinum albums, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits, six Top 20 pop singles, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has three Grammy nominations for Best Hard Rock Performance.  He is also the founder/bassist/songwriter of the chart-topping band Sixx:A.M.  In addition to his musical career, Nikki is a two time New York Times bestseller, and is recognized for his photography and philanthropy with Covenant House.

Nikki’s signature series set of strings is part of DeanMarkley’s Helix line.  With over a year of research and development, Nikki’s strings use a precise elliptical shape for the winding wire. The shape then has to be paired with the correct winding process. The hyper-elliptical winding process results in an increased number of wraps along the length of the string. This increases the mass of the string without changing its diameter or material. More mass makes a fuller tone; more windings give a smoother feel as well as a brighter, more resonant tone.  Additional benefits of the hyper-elliptical windings are a relaxed feel and less unwanted noise.  The strings are designed to last much longer without sacrificing tone and performance.  Combine all of these elements with stainless steel and his unique gauge combination of .050/.070/.090/.110, and Dean Markley creates a string Nikki can put his name on.
