Michael Cartellone: Damn Renaissance Man

What do Damn Yankees, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cher, Freddie Mercury, Accept, John Fogerty and Peter Frampton all have in common?  You guessed it, Michael Cartellone.  Cartellone is not just a drummer, he’s an extremely versatile drummer.  Perhaps best known for his work with the multi-platinum band Damn Yankees (Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades), he has spent the last 13 years drumming for the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Cartellone is also a formally trained artist, whose work is represented by Wentworth Gallery and to view his work, one would say he is not just an artist, he’s an extremely versatile artist.  In the raucous and debauchery-filled universe that is rock n’ roll, it is no longer shocking to hear of a band trashing their hotel room, what would make headlines today is to know that this rock n’ roll drummer paints in his.  And no, not on the walls, but on canvas.
