AEROSMITH celebrated their sold-out show (Monday, August 6) at the historic Hollywood Bowl surrounded by friends and family. On hand for their triumphant return to Los Angeles: actor and guitar player Johnny Depp, who joined the band onstage for the group’s classic version of “Train Kept A Rollin,’” legendary comic book creator Stan Lee (who introduced the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees onstage to roars from the crowd), actors Jim Carrey, Seth Green and Tyler’s daughter Liv. Here’s some critical feedback of the show:
“…the Boston-based supergroup often proved they can deliver hits like few others can…when the two [Tyler and Perry] are both musically and emotionally in unison, the results remain electrifying.”
–Stuart Levine, Daily Variety (8-7-12)
“…a rollicking night of rock ‘n’ roll…. There was no shortage of highlights: the chugging “Last Child,” which featured some of Tyler’s best screams of the night; Perry’s slide work on a lap steel driving “Rag Doll,” a well-preserved gem from the 1987 comeback album Permanent Vacation; even “What It Takes,” the opening verse of which Tyler delivered in uninhibited a cappella…The night’s other new song was “Legendary Child”…it was well received. Look for the song to become a staple of the band’s shows.”
–Erik Pedersen, Hollywood Reporter (8-7-12)
“…Aerosmith’s capacity for creating unforgettably epic rock moments…Displaying chops more daring and captivating than most of today’s new rock hotshots…”
–David Hall, Orange County Register(8-7-12)
