Metal Alliance Tour ArtAnthrax, just returning from a tour of Australia that included several Sonisphere Festival dates with fellow Big Four bands Metallica and Slayer, will headline the third annual Metal Alliance Tour, starting March 22 at the House of Blues in Anaheim.  The tour will work its way cross-country ending with two New York shows at Irving Plaza, the first of which has been sold out for some time.  The complete itinerary is below, and ticket info can be accessed at

On the Metal Alliance dates, Anthrax will perform, start-to-finish, its classic 1987 album Among the Living.  Often cited by fans as their favorite Anthrax album, the track listing includes “Caught In a Mosh,” “I Am The Law” and “Indians.”  Among The Living‘s cover art features an eerie depiction of Reverend Henry Kane, the terrifying antagonist from the “Poltergeist” movie sequels, who, according to the band, was a character that really creeped them out.  The album’s title track was based on the Stephen King’s “The Stand” – the song’s narrator is the maleficent Randall Flagg, the main character in King’s novel.  Additionally, “I Am The Law” is a tribute to comic book hero Judge Dredd, and “Elfinikufesin” (N.F.L.) is about the life of the late John Belushi.

The Metal Alliance Tour coincides with the release of Anthems, the band’s long-awaited, eight-track EP that pays tribute to the classic songs by some of Anthrax’s favorite bands from the 1970s, set for a March 19 release.   Anthems‘s track listing features Rush’s “Anthem,” Thin Lizzy’s “Jailbreak,” “T.N.T.” by AC/DC, Boston’s “Smokin’,” “Big Eyes” by Cheap Trick, Journey’s “Keep on Runnin,” as well as the album version and a special remix of Anthrax’s “Crawl” from the band’s critically-acclaimed 2011 album Worship Music.
