Austin’s own rock duo, NOT IN THE FACE, has quickly made its mark on the music scene with a show-stopping SXSW performance, has now been confirmed for a prime spot at the 2012 Hootenanny Festival on July 7th at the Oak Canyon Ranch in Silverado Canyon CA. NOT IN THE FACE will be rockin’ alongside such musical greats as Rancid, The Reverend Horton Heat, The Supersuckers, Lee Rocker, Kevin Seconds and many more!  In addition, it was announced today, NOT IN THE FACE will join Rise Against, The Descendents, NOFX and more at the September 22nd Riot Fest in Dallas, TX.

Prior to the Hootenanny, on June 28th, NOT IN THE FACE will be jump starting their summer tour promotion of their album, Bikini, right in their hometown of Austin, TX.  The duo will perform at the 101X “Rock in Style” Fashion show, located at The W Hotel.  The “Rock in Style” show promises an evening of music, models and margaritas with live music from Roxy Roca & NOT IN THE FACE! Then they head to Oklahoma City and Las Vegas, before hitting the west coast for Hootenanny.  (More dates TBA)

NOT IN THE FACE is described by those in the know as; grimy, gritty and raw – Low-Fi and boisterous – blistering blues-pop – their songs reveal a mean streak and melodic sense that would make Paul Westerberg proud.  With roots tracing back to Deep East Texas, NOT IN THE FACE is undeniably the real deal. The soul behind their “sludgy, no bull-shit” sound draws heavily from the experience of living in the no-holds-barred land of oil fields, backroads, and sweltering summers. Singer and guitarist Jonathan Terrell was ushered into this world by a midwife in a crowded trailer. He grew up fast, riding horses, workin’ ranches and singing in church. Drummer Wes Cargal was brought up in a truckin’ man’s home and grew up racing motorcycles across the country, often in favor of going to school. His love for bands like Led Zeppelin and Smashing Pumpkins inspired him to take up the drums.

Live reviews for NOT IN THE FACE have been nothing short of amazing:

“The Austin duo cranks out catchy, energetic and dynamic Southern-tinged rock that will have you pumping your fist in the air one minute and crying into your beer the next.”  -KUT 90.5 Radio (NPR Station)

” (the) powerhouse two-piece stormed the stage with big , meaty riffs and a bluesy swagger that might invite comparisons to , say, the Black Keys, but which was infused with such a joy being alive that it felt positively Springsteen-ian”  – Culturemap Austin
