Backlashes and Bad IdeasHarbor Records is pleased to welcome their new signing Backslashes And Bad Ideas to the family. The Staten Island, NY pop-punk/indie outfit has previously released the critically acclaimed Nothing Left To Give EP back in August of last year. The band is currently hard at work on their label debut which is slated to be released later this year. Backslashes And Bad Ideas’ Guitarist Nick DePalo had this to say about the signing, “We are elated for the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated individuals who share our love and passion for music. We are confident that our partnership with Harbor Records will help us take the next step forward as a band. We are all extremely excited to get right back to work writing, recording, releasing, and performing new music for our fans this upcoming summer and fall.” With Harbor Records Owner Ryan Williford commenting, “I have a diverse taste in music, so it only makes sense that my label has a diverse roster. Backslashes And Bad Ideas had me hooked the first time I listened to them, and I can rest assure new listeners will be hooked just as quickly.”

Backslashes and Bad Ideas is not just another generic pop punk outfit, they are neither polished nor typical, and they proudly separate themselves from the constant cookie-cutter standard. Their circuit began with just four friends humbly making music. They wrote together inspired by a range of artists, from scene veterans such as Taking Back Sunday and Brand New, to rising talent like The Dangerous Summer and The Wonder Years. Over two years in the making, the band has grown together not only in number, but in sound and purpose. They strive to wrought passionate, driving, and heartfelt music that can transcend all listeners.

In June 2012, the band began recording their debut EP Nothing Left To Give with producer Joe Della’quila (Anthony Green, Good Old War) at Exeter Studios in NJ. After a successful digital release on August 4th, 2012, the band received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and support, as well as favorable reviews from a variety of outlets. Justin Sarachik (Broken Records Magazine) called the EP “emotionally driven, distinct and clearly determined,” while Festivalblog reviewed the record as “an infectious release.”

Over this past year alone, the band has traversed the east coast, playing shows near and far while sharing stage with national touring bands such as Major League, With The Punches, Half Hearted Hero, and Young Statues. Backslashes And Bad Ideas thrive to deliver a electric, intimate, and tightly crafted performance no matter what the bill, venue, or crowd and looks forward to another exciting year of traveling, performing, growing, and sharing their brand of passionate, honest, and heartfelt pop punk.
