Nearly 20 years ago, a band formed in the small ski towns of the Colorado Rockies. Two decades later, THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT will be kicking off their 20th anniversary celebration with a three-night New Year’s run at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, CO. Set for December 28, 29 and 31, these shows will be the ultimate celebration of the life of the band, highlighted by special guest appearances, vintage relics from SCI’s past, and much more.
Joining THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT for the festivities will be Bootsy Collins on 12/28 and The Flaming Lips on 12/29. Karl Denson & Chris Littlefield (Tiny Universe Horns) will also be sitting in with the band on 12/28 and 12/29. Look for more surprise guests from the band’s past to be announced for the official 3-set New Year’s Eve show. Epic Incidents are sure to ensue from these musical collaborations.
As an added bonus, all ticket buyers will receive a download code good for a free MP3 of the remastered version of the band’s very first cassette tape. This old school album features early recordings of 11 classic songs, including classics like “Jellyfish,” “Lester Had a Coconut” and “Johnny Cash.” Tickets for all nights are on sale now at www.stringcheeseincident.com.
THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT has also just released the video footage from their Independence Day run in Austin, TX this past summer. Presented by TourGigs and SCI, the band’s three-night run at The Backyard July 4-6 is now available (as individual nights or a three-night bundle) on HD DVD, BluRay and Digital Download at www.tourgigs.com. For the first time in seven years, the band returned to Austin and the outdoor venue proved to be a perfect setting for these Incidents, with beautiful sunsets shining upon the crowd as the first set of each night came to a close. After the sun had set, the lighting rig dazzled the crowd and the more experimental side of THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT was unleashed.
Look for the acclaimed independent band–BILL NERSHI (guitars and vocals), MICHAEL KANG (mandolin, violin, guitar and vocals), KEITH MOSELEY (bass & vocals), MICHAEL TRAVIS (drums and percussion), KYLE HOLLINGSWORTH (keyboards & vocals) and JASON HANN (percussion)–to release a new studio album produced by Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads) in Spring 2014. The release will be in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of their own independent record label, SCI Fidelity Records.
Since its formation in 1998, SCI Fidelity Records has delivered on its mission to support independent musicians everywhere, releasing over 75 albums from SCI, Keller Williams, Umphrey’s McGee, The Disco Biscuits, Steve Winwood, Lotus, Railroad Earth and many more.
