VOIVOD, who is nearing their 40th anniversary, changed the face of thrash metal in the 80s, forged new prog-metal ground in the 90s and kept up with changing times and lineups in the 00s with fresh, inspired music. They are credited with being one of the “big four” Canadian thrash metal bands alongside Sacrifice, Razor and Annihilator and were one of the first thrash metal bands from Canada to gain popularity outside of the country. The band has gone on to win the “Visionary” Award at the 2017 Progressive Music Awards, are a Billboard top 200 charting band, have been featured on Guitar Hero II, and their LP, The Wake (2018), won a Juno Award for Heavy Metal Album of the Year. VOIVOD is Denis “Snake” Belanger (vocals), Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain (guitar), Dominic “Rocky” Laroche (bass), and Michel “Away” Langevin (drums).
