Zippo EncoreToday, Zippo, maker of the windproof pocket lighter, is launching the next phase of the company’s music campaign, Zippo Encore. In an effort to continue to engage fans of the brand and music at every step of their festival experience, Zippo Encore will be expanding through new sponsorships, unique on-site concert activations and other impactful programs to connect with the company. Two new music genres, alternative and country, will be added to the current Zippo Encore metal and rock efforts.

Building off of the great success of last year’s activation, Zippo Encore will once again sponsor the 6th annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival (www.RockstarMayhemFest.com), the world’s biggest hard and heavy music touring festival.  Artists performing on the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival include main stage metal and horror legend, festival closer Rob Zombie, plus the triple gold certified Five Finger Death Punch and a monster lineup that includes additional main stage bands Mastodon and Amon Amarth. The festival’s four stages will also feature performances from Children Of Bodom, Machine Head, Behemoth, Job For A Cowboy, Emmure, Born Of Osiris, Motionless In White, Butcher Babies, Battlecross, Huntress, Thrown Into Exile, City In The Sea, and more.

During the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Zippo Encore will provide unique experiences that will resonate with the overall goal of engaging fans of the brand and music at every step. One unique experience is the first ever Zippo Custom Artist Program.  The program will be the first of its kind, with custom lighters created at the hands of the musicians themselves.  The musicians were encouraged to create a design for their own Zippo lighter and these unique forms of artistic expression will be on sale at the Zippo Encore booth during the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Check out a video about the Zippo Custom Artist Program here: http://bit.ly/Yl9zt6.

In addition, fans will be able to submit their own artwork for a chance to have their design become the official Mayhem Festival Zippo Lighter. The winning designer will receive the custom lighter, VIP tickets and pit passes to a Mayhem show of their choosing. The window for submissions will open March 25th and will last through May 25th; fans can enter and find out details about the contest on www.ZippoEncore.com.

Also, Zippo has aligned with the official charity of the 6th annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Metal of Honor, an umbrella organization that supports regional and national veteran affair focused charities throughout America. As part of this partnership, Zippo will create the official 2013 Metal of Honor lighter. The design will be available for purchase during the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer with 100% of profits going to Metal of Honor supported charities.

“Zippo could not be more proud to align with and support Metal of Honor,” said Brent Tyler, global brand manager, Zippo Manufacturing Company. “Just like how being a part of the music scene was a no-brainer for us, we always enjoy the opportunity to be involved in an arena that is so interwoven with our brand; this especially rings true for the military.”

This spring, Zippo Encore will be announcing the sponsorship of two additional summer concert series designed to promote the company’s rich heritage in music and art through a 360 degree brand experience combining live music and lighter design.

“Zippo windproof lighters have a longstanding connection with music,” said Tyler. “They have been held high by fans to salute performers, featured on album sleeves, and even sampled in songs – Zippo Encore exists to celebrate this connection. Coming off last year’s success, we wanted to make sure we did things bigger and better this year. We wanted to further connect with consumers through our common love, music, in unique and exciting ways.”

Model, actress and webhost, Jayme Foxx, will be live tweeting and posting photos to Instagram for Zippo Encore and will also be hosting several web-based videos about her time and dealings on the open highway during the festivals this year. Jayme Foxx is recognized internationally as the hottest “host in your pocket” for Nokia’s Royal Artist Club and Altitude TV’s show, Crazy Like a Foxx, seen by millions of Nokia, iPhone, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon customers. In addition, this model turned host, has graced the pages and covers of numerous international magazines, look books for high-end fashion designers, has been seen walking the runway for LA Fashion Week and can be found in P!NK’s music video, “So What.”

Zippo is also redesigning the Zippo Encore website (ZippoEncore.com) and launching a multi-faceted social media plan using a variety of platforms to update music lovers on everything happening with Zippo Encore. A Facebook Fan Page (www.facebook.com/ZippoEncore), a Twitter account (@ZippoEncore), an Instagram account (@ZippoEncore) and a branded YouTube Channel (www.YouTube.com/ZippoEncore) will be offering fans exclusive content from the shows, including behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the road and ticket giveaways.

Zippo Encore will not only be expanding in the U.S., but also its global efforts, activating at nearly a dozen different festivals in several countries. Each international leg of Zippo Encore will share the same excitement and activation as their U.S. counterparts with unique on-site activations, custom contests and special giveaways and prizes. Content from these international events will also be pushed through the Zippo Encore website and social media channels so that those not in attendance can engage in everything Zippo Encore has to offer globally.

Zippo Encore will be providing music lovers with unique access and experiences to some of the top music tours throughout 2013. For more information on Zippo Encore, social media sites and upcoming show dates and Zippo Encore related news, visit www.ZippoEncore.com.
