DiMINO – Old Habits Die Hard
Best known for being the front-man of legendary U.S. hard rock band Angel, Frank DiMino is now leading his own solo project and will make his debut with a melodic hard rock album, aptly titled Old Habits Die Hard. Frontiers Music will release the comeback album from Dimino on July 10, 2015.
While DiMino is undoubtedly the group’s mastermind, Old Habits Die Hard sees him collaborate with some heavyweights of the Las Vegas music scene, where he currently resides. DiMino has assembled an impressive backing band of musicians for this record, which includes former Angel bandmates Barry Brandt and Punky Meadows, Danny Miranda (Blue Oyster Cult), Oz Fox (Stryper), Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister), and Jeff Duncan (Armored Saint).
In Old Habits Die Hard, DiMino’s vocals retain much of the same distinction shown four decades ago in his days with Angel. While I Can’t Stop Loving You is likely the closest this album comes to an Angel revival, those classic elements show themselves in more than a few places throughout the album. DiMino slows things down with the emotional track Even Now, proving that his powerful vocals sound just as moving when backed by the acoustic guitar, rather than the screeching electric. Other tracks, such as Mad as Hell and Never Again will satisfy listeners looking for a bit more of an edge with their driven beat and impassioned lyrics.
DiMino has returned to the front lines of rock and roll, giving audiences one of 2015’s best rock and roll releases so far. Here you will get an impressive mixture of hard rockers and slower tracks alike. The former Angel vocalist has succeeded beautifully in creating an album of retro rock songs that surpass all expectations. If you are a fan of Frank DiMino, or just classic-style rock in general, Old Habits Die Hard will not disappoint you.
