Sony Music Entertainment and legendary heavy metal band Judas Priest have announced the release of Judas Priest: Road to Valhalla, a new mobile game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, is now available in the App Store.
The app is a joint collaboration between Judas Priest, Sony Music Entertainment, Trinifold Management LLC UK and Babaroga, a leading mobile game studio.
The app gives players access to isolated song stems (drums, guitars, vocals, etc.) and progress through each level of the game by filling “stem meters” to construct full songs using an innovative visual mechanic.
The music itself is all taken from Judas Priest’s 2016 live album, Battle Cry, and allows players to work with classic tracks like Breaking the Law, Turbo Lover, Electric Eye, Painkiller and You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’, along with Halls of Valhalla from the band’s most recent studio album, Redeemer of Souls.
The app even includes a series of exclusive video clips throughout the game which features vocalist Rob Halford, adding to it a more personal touch.
“When we set out to make this game, we wanted to give fans a new kind of visual listening experience,” said Halford in a recent release. “For the first time, we are making individual stems of our songs available to fans to give them a new and interactive way to engage with some of the best songs from our catalog.”
Overall, the app sports impressive graphics and smooth gameplay—making it well worth the $1.99 price tag. With each level packed full of hot lava, winged demons, and songs by Judas Priest, this app is about as metal as they come.
