As the Christmas holiday nears, let us reflect on the true spirit of the season, the spirit of giving. As you count your blessings, be mindful of those who are less fortunate. As an example to all of us, Rick Allen‘s humble and pure heart toward helping people who can really use a hand, is inspiring and warms the heart. In that very same spirit, Screamer Magazine has decided to devote this special issue to Those Who Make A Difference. In addition to the few articles in this issue that show how rockers make a difference, we also highlight some charities that put your donations to work in the very best way. Please consider some of the top rated charities according to the highly respected charity watchdog organization CharityWatch.
Have a rockin’ Christmas and practice, practice, practice good will toward men.
From their website:
Our programs are designed with a commitment to those we serve.
The Fund is dedicated to providing immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to our nation’s critically wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and military families.
We operate our programs and services through a “needs-based” approach. Staff and volunteers work one-on-one with our service members, veterans, and military families–providing ongoing support for as long as legitimate needs require.
Experienced at anticipating needs, our case managers often introduce new programs to further assist service members and military families throughout the journey to recovery and transition back into their communities.
The Fund processes, on average, 150 grant requests each day. We typically deliver assistance within 24-48 hours of receiving an emergency request, and within a week for non-urgent cases.
Key Moments and Milestones
A Timeline of Our History
Semper Fi & America’s Fund (The Fund) was started in 2003 by military spouses who immediately volunteered to provide bedside support to those wounded and injured while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Operated today by those same military spouses, The Fund now includes a nationwide staff of patriotic veterans, community members, and volunteers, and The Fund’s model of lifelong relationships between service members, military families, and our team is completely unique among veteran nonprofits.
Always Faithful. Ever Present.
For nearly two decades, Semper Fi & America’s Fund’s financial support, resources and programming has reached 29,000 service members, veterans, and military families.
Since its founding in 2003, Semper Fi & America’s Fund has given $290 million in assistance to 29,000 service members. Our direct financial assistance and many programs have an incredible impact on the service members, veterans, and military families in our care. The Fund continually finds new ways to reach and support combat wounded, critically ill, and injured service members, veterans, and military families across all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.
